Anika Cobb

Communications Coordinator

Anika Cobb, MS is SCCADVASA’s Communications Coordinator. A “military brat”, she spent most of her life overseas but has always maintained ties to Columbia, South Carolina. She holds a Bachelors of Arts in Communications from Johnson C. Smith University and a Masters of Science in Communication with a double minor in Integrated Communications & Advertising and Community/Public Relations from Purdue University.

Believing that service is the price we pay for our stay here on earth, Anika actively works to make the world a better place. Her past service endeavors include, creating job fairs and workplace trainings for homeless veterans, organizing awareness campaigns with RAIN for HIV education and prevention,

awareness campaigns for child soldier epidemics in Uganda, and coordinating panel discussions and trainings on colorism in the black community.

In 2012 Anika worked in partnership with Johnson C. Smith University, WBTV, and the 13th congressional district in Georgia as a part of a community of color preservation plan for the West End of Charlotte, NC amidst the start of gentrification in preparation for the Democratic National Convention. She chronicled cultural fixtures in the west end of Charlotte, creating a digital series of community impact videos and finally secured funding from corporate partnerships to transform the digital series into a commercial series resulting in increased awareness and emotional connection to the heart of the West End of Charlotte.

Working in higher education, she is a proven advocate for equitable resources in education and has worked closely with enrollment and retention teams for Historically Black Colleges and Universities in South Carolina.
