SCCADVASA offers a variety of training and continuing education events throughout the year, primarily for Victim Service Providers (VSPs), therapists, social workers, and other professionals who work with survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
CEUs offered by our training courses vary depending on the topic and audience. Consult the training announcement/flyer for information about which CEUs are offered for the training in question. SCCADVASA collaborates with the professional licensing and accrediting agencies that govern the credits awarded for attendance. We provide the training and track your attendance, but do not have the authority to grant or deny the credits to your record.
This page offers information about the training and continuing education provided by SCCADVASA.
Victim Service Providers
General Information
The most common continuing education credit offered by SCCADVASA is for Victim Service Providers (VSPs). The accrediting body for VSPs is the Attorney General’s Crime Victim Services Training, Provider Certification and Statistical Analysis or CVST for short.
You can review their website for more information on applying for a VSP number, contact information, CVST-approved trainings, etc.
SCCADVASA works closely with the CVST office to provide webinars and in person training events to VSPs. Our SCKnowMore webinars are typically approved by the CVST office to offer VSP credit.
Additionally, SCCADVASA provides three Basic VSP courses every year in which new Victim Service Providers receive their initial 15-hour training.
Receiving VSP Credit
To receive VSP credit for one of SCCADVASA’s VSP-approved training courses, you must provide your VSP number and attend the entire training. Certificates are granted for your own records; however, the CVST Office does not grant credit based on these certificates.
- In-person events will have a sign-out sheet in which you will list your VSP number and signature to prove your attendance. After the training, SCCADVASA sends a scanned copy of the sign-out sheet to the CVST office, where it is reviewed for your attendance and to grant your VSP hours.
- Virtual events require that you enter your VSP number when you register, and that you join the webinar with your individual Zoom link. After the webinar, SCCADVASA sends the Zoom Attendance Report to the CVST office who reviews the report for your complete attendance and grants your VSP hours. The use of other programs on your computer during the webinar can result in a reduction of credit hours you will receive.
